The Roots of the Spanish Language

Spanish is believed to have originated from the northern portion of its current territory. If people in that area did not understand and use Latin, they could not trade anything with the adjacent roman merchants. By acquiring the new language and changing it to fit their specific characteristics, the locals spread this particular language all over today’s Spain territory, the new born language becoming shortly an official language and the primary language used in trades.
Because Spanish is a Latin language it still keeps a set of rules that we meet in most Latin languages like Italian, French Portuguese or Romanian among others. But locals and nomads managed to change the vocabulary fluctuations in such a way that it makes Spanish quite unique compared to its sisters. This is the starting point of the real Spanish we know and learn today.
The colonization era caught Spain in a moment when it was the stronger sea power, and had many ships that were used for commercial or battle purposes. The fact that Spain citizens traveled by sea toward the new found world for various reasons, helped the Spanish language get known here also. Today Spanish is the native language for most countries in the American continent, because of this process of colonization.
Learning Spanish even became a job requirement in some English speaking countries thus, the quest to learn spanish language. For those that did not get the chance to learn it in school, there is another alternative offered by the internet. There are many options here like buying books, exercise notebooks or Spanish courses at variable prices and you can find something to fit your taste regardless of your budget, or taking some free online course like rocket spanish premium grammar guide , but their quality can vary from website to website(you can try of course if they are free).
