Why you should consider learning a second language.

There are endless benefits of being bilingual. People who speak a second or third language have advantages people who only speak English are missing out on. Deciding to learn a second language will definitely enrich your life. You many think you can get by just great speaking only English. Here are five reasons you may reconsider and decide to learn a second language today.
1) Learning to speak a second language is important when you step into the workforce. We are very much a global civilization, and our business dealings may occur all over the globe. You will become a priceless commodity to your company if you have the ability to speak fluently with any of your companies clients in their native tongue as well as earning a great deal of respect.
2) You can remove the chances of someone playing you for a fool. Face it, it can be tempting to talk over someone’s head when you know very well that they cannot understand you. How often have we not done this to children. What is to stop thousands of citizens of the world from doing the same to you, knowing that you do not understand what is going on? Are you willing to place your fate entirely in the hands of an interpreter, who could have their own agenda just as easily as the person with whom you are interacting, or do you want to take your fate into your own hands? The decision is yours.
3) You will enjoy travel to a larger extent. Even though English is a common language, this does not mean it is spoken everywhere.In many places where English is taught, it may actually only be spoken fluently by few people?) Unless you are willing to engage the aid of an interpreter, you are at some point or another going to find yourself forced into interacting with one of the natives of the country. You are going to need to understand at least the fundamentals of their language in order for your stay in their country to be a pleasant one.
4) You will have the opportunity to meet new people. Even though there are millions of English speaking people in the world, there are even more that do not speak English well enough to carry on a conversation. If we do not speak the language of the country, the language barrier will keep us apart. Think of all the people living in those countries that could share stories and experiences with you, people that could become your friends and/or business associates.
5) Speaking of the hundreds of people that are out there in the world, imagine what being able to speak a second language will do for your dating life! Have you ever felt as though there is no one in the world who was created just for you? Have you ever taken the time to consider the possibility that there is someone on this planet for you, they just don’t happen to share the same nationality?
