Why Learn Chinese

Learning Chinese has many benefits. Learning Mandarin Chinese is the way to go, unless family or travel reasons make another version of Chinese necessary.
Chinese is considered by many to be a difficult language to learn, and I would agree with that if you intend to try to learn written Chinese, because of the thousands of symbols that need to be learned. Spoken Chinese is a totally different matter. With no tenses, no plurals, simple prepositions and no conjugations, Chinese at the spoken level is straightforward. However, learning most European languages at the spoken level is more difficult than mastering spoken Chinese.
Chinese is also a language of the future. That is because China is taking its place among the great powers of the world, and is becoming a powerhouse. Nobody can escape China’s surging economic power, now the second biggest economy in the world. Speakers of the Chinese language will have more opportunities – this is inevitable as a direct result of the huge economic shift taking place. Let’s face it – if you were a Chinese businessman, would you not prefer to speak to a foreign partner or supplier who spoke your language. I know I would.
The US exports a huge amount of goods to China, and one fifth of the world’s population lives in China. Chines based communication will undoubtedly increase and increase over time. Would the conversation not be much more productive and beneficial if there is no translator involved?
Taiwan and China present excellent vacation opportunities. Being able to communicate with locals makes any trip a much more rewarding travel experience. There is no question that you will get much out of it.
The cultural history of China is diverse and totally fascinating, and a grasp of Mandarin Chinese will allow you to get greater value out of experiencing it.
Not surprisingly, Chinese is being studied more and more in Europe and also in the USA. Being able to include Chinese on a college application may give you an edge. Spoken Chinese is showing up more and more as a desired attribute for new job opportunities is the career classifieds. Why would you want to exclude yourself, or your children from an increasing number of opportunities. There is no need to answer, as the answer is obvious.
The mental challenge of learning another language is good for the brain. With all of that, you can see that there are potential physical, mental and financial benefits to learning Chinese.
