Are you interested in learning basic French phrases? If so, then there are a couple of important things to note before you get too far down the learning path.

If you really like the French language, you will be ahead of the game and will progress quickly. However, should you lack enthusiasm for it, then the learning process will always be an uphill struggle. So, if you don’t really care for learning French, then maybe you would be better off spending your time doing something else.

There are plenty of good reasons to learn basic French phrases though, a few of which are…

1) You’ll be able to talk with people you never thought you could talk to. It’s fascinating to talk to people in their native language and you’ll learn a lot about them and yourself.

2) A whole new culture will be opened up to you. There are so many books and movies, and a lot of music, in French that you will be able to understand and appreciate.

3) Your travel options will multiply. Though you can travel to French speaking countries without speaking the language, when you do so you never really get a good feel for the country – something which you’ll certainly get when you can speak the language.

Along with the Arabic language, French is one of the most difficult languages to learn. Still, initial progress can be made relatively quickly as the most common sentences and phrases can be picked up without too much difficulty. It is only the technical aspects of the language which are harder than other languages to pick up. For the basics, it’s just a matter of memorizing sentences and the general speech pattern.

Though it is possible to learn French without the assitance of a teacher, having one will significantly increase the rate of your progress. Should you not have the time or finances to get a teacher’s help, then a good alternative is to find yourself a French friend through a language exchange website.

Another alternative is to use your computer to help you learn basic French phrases. Today, you have access to CDs and software that can help you to acquire the French accent and speech patterns. It is also easy to download French lessons on to your mp3 player, so you can listen to the most common basic French phrases while you are commuting, or at the gym.

If your goal is to teach yourself Spanish there are all kinds of helpful interactive tools and free information that you can find online. Some of these language programs are available as downloads and others are available to order as DVD’s. You can also get mini-courses sent to you through your email. The cost of these language learning methods is zilch!

Before You Begin

The goals are placed before you in this program and through the preview availability you are able to be aware of them before you begin each lesson. The features of the learn to speak German software are shown in several videos of German tutorials.

Memorizing Vocabulary

Most language courses begin with learning vocabulary, along with often-used phrases and statements. Problem is, learning to ask for directions to the bus stop is only really useful in one scenario – when you’re looking for the bus stop. This means that you’re basically learning bits and pieces of language that you can only use in a limited manner – not enough to let you string together an entire conversation. Or is it?

Pros of the Rosetta Stone German Software Program

Overall, this “learn to speak” German language program gets a big thumbs up. One of the great things about this German tutorial inclusion software program is that it has a speech recognition program included with the package. There are writing, grammar, audio and visual images that makes this program a hit. This program is relatively easy to install on your computer. The means of support for this software is excellent in every way. With a limited paper manual, this software program’s self-help menu covers its bases. An easy-to-access help button is present on every screen in this German tutorial-based software program. There is also email support and a toll-free number for live support.

You can pop these in your audio player in your car and learn while you commute to work. You can also download free MP3′s that allow you to do the same. As long as you have a pair of earphones and some kind of audio player you are well set up to learn a language on your own.

To teach yourself Spanish all you really need is a bit of discipline. The good news is that it is one of the simpler languages to master

If you decide to become a teacher of English as a foreign language or EFL teacher, your skills will help people across the world and particularly in developing countries. It can help in terms of education, the economy and trade. It is also easier for us to learn about each other’s culture when we have a common language. You can teach English as a foreign language if you have a degree and have undergone EFL training.

For an EFL teacher, Africa is fast becoming one of the most popular continents to travel to. French and German are two other languages spoken widely on the continent as well as the thousands of native languages. English is only spoken in those areas that Britain dominated during colonial times.

Rwanda has adopted a national strategy to begin teaching in English at its primary and secondary schools. When today’s children become tomorrow’s government officials, teachers and industry leaders, the government hope they will be able to communicate with the wilder world better.

The Francophobe feelings that run deep in Rwanda since the 1994 genocide have been put as a reason behind this move away from French. Relations have cooled as both countries blame each other for the mass killings.

The switch to English has not been given this reason by officials but national and international commentators see this as a major factor. Rwanda insist that English as a common second language will help them to deal with the rest of the world more effectively. This does not only apply to potential foreign trading countries like China, England and the US. Rwanda’s neighbours including Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania also speak English as their second language.

Businesses are also seeing the benefits of using English in every office around the world to make trading and communications easier. You can teach English in nearly every country after you have completed EFL training.

The financial crash of 2001 in Argentina led to a peso devaluation which caused a major boom in foreign tourism. One long term result of this has been the opening of a number of high quality Spanish schools that offer you the chance to study Spanish affordably. In addition to cost, there are further reasons for learning to speak Spanish in Argentina too.

English is not widely spoken by Argentines. In contrast to nations located further north which have more contact with American travelers, businesses, and pop culture, Argentina has had relatively little contact with English speakers. Until recently, Argentines considered French to be of a higher standing and those who had the resources to study a second language tended to learn French instead.

Although Argentines are fast changing their attitude, English is still seldom spoken fluently by Argentines. This serves as a great benefit for students of Spanish as they will be forced to use the local language to get by.

It is easy to understand Argentines. They do not speak too fast, and they do not mumble, which can be be common for Caribbean or Central American speakers. Many beginner students have trouble differentiating between words with spoken Spanish because they cannot hear the stopping of one word and the beginning of the next. Studying the language in Argentina minimizes this problem.

Talking a lot is common in Argentina. You will find no problem in finding others to practice with because a talkative culture exists there. It is easy to start a conversation with anyone. Confident learners progress well in an environment such as this.

To take advantage of this great language learning opportunity you just need to to do a little research on the internet. Whatever your preference, a short month long study vacation, a six month home stay, or something between the two, Argentina will have something just right for you.

Language Learning & Web 2.0

You will come across many websites that assume you already know some of the basic skills of the Spanish language. If you don’t already have some knowledge make sure to find a course that is made for the Spanish language beginner.

In addition, exposure to a new language while at daycare in Brookline can strengthen the development of verbal/language skills in infants, toddlers, preschool and even pre-K aged kids.

Why choose Spanish bilingual education?

Spanish is the primary language of approximately 330 million people around the world. It is a second language for nearly 50 million people. In a world that is rapidly growing smaller, thanks to technology and a global economy, the value of being able to communicate in Spanish should not be underestimated. Further, access to a rich world of art, literature, history and music becomes available through one’s knowledge of Spanish.

Children receiving an early bilingual education in their Brookline daycare program have a unique advantage. In addition to the developmental and educational benefits of learning Spanish early on, they are better prepared to thrive in and appreciate a multi-cultural environment at any age.

If you don’t have computer access then find a friend who has a computer to help you out. I would never suggest an internet cafe to do this for many obvious reasons.

There are many ESL teachers who have taken a 10 or maybe 20 hour program in a hotel room somewhere or completed some internet reading program and suddenly claim to be a certified TESOL, TESL or TEFL teacher. Many of these “certified teachers” have never been in a classroom. Sorry but many believe that this is fraud.

ESL in Canada has conducted several tours of ESL schools across Canada and the USA. Our fieldwork to collect information for the webpage directory has uncovered frauds, misrepresentations and some very bad situations

Latin is the forefather of Italian, French, Portuguese, Spanish and Romanian and the language of Italy can be traced back to somewhere in the later part of the tenth century. However, it was only four centuries later that the Italian language was formalized and a standard language began to take shape.

In today’s time, there are about seventy million individuals that speak Italian. Not surprisingly the majority of people speaking Italian are in Italy, Vatican, San Marino and even Switzerland however large pockets of native speakers can be found in South America, the United States and even Malta, Slovenia and Croatia.

There is a distinct vibrancy to the numerous Italian dialects. Linguists have even said that each Italian city speaks its very own, unique language. The Tuscan dialect, together with Umbrian, Romanesco and Laziale, is the closest to standard Italian as opposed to Neapolitan and Sicilian which are almost non-mutually intelligible with Italian.

There are only 21 main letters in the Italian alphabet, with five additional letters that are exclusively used for foreign names. The Italian language remains fresh from borrowing German, French and English words, while staying true to the original vocabulary that derives from Latin. Much of the Italian words have steadily become part of other foreign vocabularies, mainly musical terms, related art words and names of food.

The Italian grammar has a Latin base, so therefore its main features are shared with other Romance languages. In most cases, word order follows the ‘subject-verb-object’ pattern; nouns indicate gender and number; verbs agree with subjects and also indicate person and number; adjectives agree with nouns.

Because of the many similarities to other Romance languages, the Italian language is relatively easy for someone who already speaks a Romance language to learn. However, learning Italian seems to be most popular among the speakers of English and other Germanic languages.

Italian for hello is “ciao”, pronounced “Chow”. Well done – you just learnt your first bit of Italian! It might sound strange, but this is all language learning really is: making the decision that you’re going to learn, and then doing it! Avoid making the very common mistake of getting bogged down with tricky grammar rules and masses of verb conjugation. The best piece of advice you can take if you want to learn Italian is to start small, get a feel for the language, and learn small, short, simple words and phrases that are going to be immediately useful to you. Seemingly trivial things like being able to say hello in Italian, or please, thank you and excuse me, are actually huge cornerstones for your learning. They’ll provide the foundation on which you build your knowledge of the language. Don’t be scared to dive in!

Getting yourself used to the basics first is a good way of starting a new language. If you’re heading to Italy, then let’s face it, it won’t be much good if you know how to conjugate twenty verbs but can’t say “Hello!” or “Excuse me, where are the toilets?”!

Thanks to the great selection of language learning tools, software and sites available online, you won’t ever be stuck for a study programme to follow. Many of them will provide you with pronuncation guides, vocab lists, writing exercises, and listening practice, so you can feel free to take it all at your own pace. A word of caution, though – be careful with that freedom! A common mistake is for beginners to launch themselves headfirst into learning Italian with great enthusiasm, so that the initial study sessions are an hour or two long, sometimes twice or three times a day. This sets a precedent that, I think most people would find totally unrealistic and impossible to maintain for any lengh of time! You are not going to become fluent in a week. It takes time, but the key to success will be you studying regular, but short manageable amounts of information and not overload yourself by trying to learn too much too soon. That’s why it’s really not so silly for me to tell you that by learning the Italian for hello, you’re making real progress!

As you work your way through a course, it’s important that you keep reviewing what you’ve learned so far, and revising it. This has two main purposes: it checks that you haven’t forgotten what you’ve learned previously, and it further engraves the words into your brain, increasing your familiarity and comfort with the language. That is where your fluency will eventually come from. So build that vocabulary up gradually, and don’t be embarrassed to start with something so simple as Italian for hello. See it as your first building block, and then start building on it!

I often ask myself how many enthusiastic people have said “I want to learn Spanish” and then given up in annoyance when they discovered that what they’d been taught was of no use whatsoever to them in the Real World. It’s like going to Spain after taking a Spanish class at school and realising that being able to say ” The cat sat on the mat” is not at all useful when all you want to do is have a bit of witty banter with someone at the bar. Many, many language students have been put off by their experiences with courses teaching “incorrect” Spanish, or dated words and phrases that would be not be spoken by any native Spanish speaker.

Nowadays, thankfully, online language learning programmes have stepped in to offer courses and software that are specifically designed to give you a proper grasp of real conversation skills and vocabulary that you’ll be able to use in day-to-day life, whether that’s in a business situation, or in a social setting. If you want to learn Spanish, it’s much more satisfying to come away from each lesson with a few more useful phrases committed to memory than struggling repeatedly with grammar rules and dated, irrelevant roleplays like you might have done at school.

So why not get started right away? Get stuck into this list of short Spanish phrases, for example. All of them are very handy in Real Life situations, and if you take a little bit of time to master them, you’ll give yourself a great boost, which will keep you motivated and eager to build on your knowledge. The more practice you get, the more you deepen your knowledge of the language, which makes learning all the complicated grammar and pronunciation rules so much easier.

No hablo español – I don’t speak Spanish.

Believe it or not, this is the most useful sentence you can learn in any language! It’s particularly useful if you’re going to be travelling – all travellers have experienced the despairing feeling that comes with a native speaker pouring forth what sounds like gibberish, but it really does give you a tiny sense of accomplishment if you can interrupt the person by explaining that you don’t understand in their own language. It actually earns you a lot more respect from the native speaker, too! They will appreciate a tourist making the effort to speak basic Spanish words and phrases, and will very often then go out of their way to help you if you show that you’re trying. So, for that reason, try to learn a few “common courtesy” words:

Hola – Hello

Por favor – Please

Gracias – Thank you

¿Cuánto? – How much?

Perdón – Sorry

No entiendo – I don’t understand

¿Habla inglés? – Do you speak English?

Online language sources can provide you with a really solid foundation if you want to learn Spanish, giving you the confidence to start speaking whatever you’ve learned on a daily basis. And that’s the Top tip: you want to learn to speak Spanish? Then start speaking Spanish! It will surpise you just how fast you’ll be able to build up your range of vocabulary and phrases if you actually put in the effort to practice them. Give it a try – and start learning Spanish today!

If you’ve ever been interested in learning Italian, but have never found the time to start, now is that time – learning Italian is as easy as one, two, three!! Most people put off learning a new language because they see it as a long, complicated, and often frustrating process, and they’re really surprised to discover that nowadays, it’s nothing like those dull language lessons they remember from their schooldays. What if you could go at your own pace, be speaking italian confidently in a matter of hours, learn useful everyday vocabulary thats relevent to everyday situations, and do all this from the comfort of home!)?

Yes, that’s what I thought. That sounds much more appealing than having to make time for classes and drag yourself off to school on a regular basis, doesn’t it? Today, the internet has revolutionised the way in which we live our lives – and learning languages is no different. You can learn how to speak Italian by making use of a huge variety of language learning software online, and it’s really easy to find a method that works for you.

So, where to start? Well, regardless of which website and/or software you choose, there are a number of good tips that apply if you’re serious about learning how to speak Italian, or any foreign language, for that matter. The most important of these is: be focused and determined. It’s no use jumping in full of good intentions to begin with, only to not keep it up and leave it weeks in between returning. The most effective method|approach will always be slow and steady! Your brain will find it much easier to retain information when you feed it a little bit at a time and regularly. So be sure to make some time every day, even if its only a few minutes. 15 minutes every morning and evening, for example, is vastly more beneficial than a mammoth 4 hour study session once a week.

Don’t set your goals too high to start or you’ll end up burnt out, frustrated and even more dissapointed. Instead, just work on becoming completely familiar with as much as you can in your daily schedule. Regardless of whether its verbs, vocabulary or a specific grammar rule, concentrate on memorising it for around 15-30 minutes. And then – this is the most important part – come back to it at the start of your next “study time”. Revision and review is the key to success in learning to speak any language. Go over what you learned last time before you move on to something new. Remember to keep revisiting to ensure you remember! This is the same reason we’re made to take tests at school.

A good way to make sure that your previous study remains firmly lodged in your head is to keep yourself familiar with it. If you can practise conversation on a regular basis with a friend, study partner, or even some language learning software, you’ll quickly become confident and comfortable with using what you’ve already learned. Learning it and leaving it will cause the information to become rusty and redundant in your head, leading to the frustrating experience of struggling for words in an “Argh…. I should know, I learned this word!” kind of way.

Small amounts of information, regular study sessions, and plenty of revision and practice. Master that, and you’ll be speaking Italian in no time at all, you’ll even surprise yourself!
